Children are very important to us at St Matthias. We want to welcome children into our church family by providing age-appropriate activities which will be both instructive and fun.

Sundays for kids
On Sundays, we provide Sunday school for children from birth to the end of primary school. It begins with Creche for the 0 to 2 year olds. From the crèche, children move into TICKLES which meets in the Barnabas Centre at 9.30am. Classes are held for the Minis (2 year olds), Pre-School 1 (3 year olds), Pre-School 2 (4 year olds).
Once children begin school they move into their year groups, Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2. Every class has two teachers who are all trained in child protection, and kept up to date with relevant training and help.
When a child moves into primary school, they move into a primary school! Sunday School classes from Year 3 to Year 6 (now called TACKLES) meet at Paddington Public School, just down Oxford St, for games, lessons and craft. They are brought back to the church building at 11.15am, after their parents have enjoyed a cup of tea and a chance to catch up with friends.
TACKLES - Friday night socials
Twice each term, we run a social for the TACKLES children on a Friday night. This could be a movie night, games night or craft extravaganza. The children are encouraged to invite their friends and everyone has a great (and usually messy) time.
